Alling's Auto & Truck Repair LLC Introduce

Located at 1403 N Rocky River Rd, Monroe, NC 28110, USA, Alling's Auto & Truck Repair LLC operates as a local establishment within the "Auto Repair Stations" platform category. This shop aims to serve the automotive needs of Monroe residents, providing services for both cars and trucks. As a family-owned business with a history spanning over 30 years—17 in New Jersey and 13 in Indian Trail before its current Monroe location—Alling's positions itself as a personable alternative to larger dealerships.

The environment at Alling's Auto & Truck Repair LLC is characteristic of a local, independent mechanic shop. You can generally expect a practical workspace designed for vehicle diagnostics, maintenance, and repair. This typically includes multiple service bays, vehicle lifts, and a range of tools and equipment necessary for working on various makes and models of cars and trucks. The focus of such an establishment is typically on functionality and efficiency in the repair process. While the reviews do not provide detailed descriptions of a waiting area, such facilities usually offer a basic space for customers to wait during minor services. The overall impression, when positive, is one of a no-frills, honest workshop where the work on the vehicle takes precedence. However, customer experiences regarding the shop's operational approach and ethical standards, as indicated in some reviews, can significantly influence the perceived environment and trust in the service provided.

Alling's Auto & Truck Repair LLC provides a range of services typical of a full-service "Auto Repair Station." Based on customer feedback and general offerings from similar independent shops, their services likely include, but are not limited to:

  • General Vehicle Maintenance: This includes routine services such as oil changes, fluid checks and flushes, filter replacements (air, oil, fuel, cabin), and tire rotations. A customer specifically mentioned a "15,000-mile checkup," indicating their capability for scheduled maintenance.
  • Brake Services: Inspection, diagnosis, and replacement of brake pads, rotors, calipers, and other braking system components.
  • Suspension and Steering Repair: Addressing issues with components like tie rods, ball joints, shocks, and struts. While a customer's negative experience with tie rod diagnosis was noted, it implies this is a service they offer.
  • Engine Diagnostics and Repair: Identifying and resolving issues indicated by check engine lights, rough idling, or other engine performance problems.
  • Electrical System Repair: Troubleshooting and fixing issues with batteries, alternators, starters, and vehicle wiring.
  • Heating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Service: Repair and recharging of vehicle climate control systems.
  • Pre-purchase Inspections: Assessing the condition of a vehicle before a buyer commits to a purchase.
  • Alignments: As per customer reviews, they offer vehicle alignments, although issues with the execution or diagnosis of related repairs have been noted.
Their capacity to work on both "Auto & Truck" implies they are equipped to handle a range of vehicle sizes and types, from passenger cars to light and potentially medium-duty trucks, offering a versatile service portfolio to the local community.

The features of Alling's Auto & Truck Repair LLC present a mixed picture, as gleaned from customer reviews. A significant positive feature, highlighted by one customer, is their perception as a small, family-owned business that is "more personable and less likely to gouge you financially than the dealerships." This suggests an aim to provide a more individualized customer experience and competitive pricing. The example of a significantly lower price for a 15,000-mile checkup compared to a dealership (charged $111.00 versus $400.00+) strongly supports their commitment to reasonable pricing. The offering of a military discount is another notable feature that benefits a specific segment of their clientele, demonstrating a community-oriented approach. Furthermore, their long operational history of "30 years" (17 in New Jersey and 13 in Indian Trail) suggests a level of experience and establishment within the automotive repair sector. However, a significant negative feature, as detailed in another review, concerns issues with diagnostic accuracy and perceived honesty in recommendations. The customer's experience of being quoted for tie rod replacement when the bolts were easily loosened without specialized equipment raises serious questions about their diagnostic integrity and whether they prioritize "the easy way out" over a genuine effort to repair. This particular incident suggests a potential lack of transparency or an attempt to upsell unnecessary repairs, which contradicts the "honest mechanic" expectation and can erode customer trust. This discrepancy in customer experiences highlights a critical area of concern for potential patrons.

Specific promotional information for Alling's Auto & Truck Repair LLC is not widely advertised online beyond the direct customer account of receiving a military discount and more favorable pricing compared to dealerships for routine maintenance. As a local, independent shop, their promotions might be more informal or relationship-based rather than broadly published. Potential customers are encouraged to contact them directly at (704) 635-8024 or +1 704-635-8024 to inquire about any current deals or special offers they may have. It's plausible that they offer seasonal discounts on specific services, such as A/C checks in summer or battery checks in winter, or perhaps loyalty programs for repeat customers. Their competitive pricing for services like the 15,000-mile checkup, as noted by a satisfied customer, effectively acts as a promotion in itself, appealing to those looking for cost-effective maintenance outside of dealership networks. However, given the contrasting reviews, it would be prudent for customers to also seek detailed quotes and potentially compare them with other shops, especially for more significant repairs, to ensure transparency and fair value.

Alling's Auto & Truck Repair LLC Customer Reviews

I took my vehicle to this shop for an alignment and they informed me the alignment could not be done because the front inner and outer tie rods were seized. They quoted me approximately $530 to replace the tie rods. I declined and paid the charge for an alignment. I brought the vehicle home and without a torch or any special equipment, I loosened the bolts that they said were seized. I do not recommend this place. Instead of taking a little extra time to work on two bolts that were seized, they wanted the easy way out and replace all the tie rods on a vehicle with less than 70k miles and in the process make easy money. An honest mechanic would make a good effort before giving up so easily. I highly recommend not taking your vehicles to this shop, and quite frankly didn’t expect this from a local mechanic shop. Response to owner's response: I'm sorry, but I don't buy your excuse of being "cautious not to do further damage" as the reason why the alignment wasn’t completed. I'm not a certified ASE mechanic and was able to get the bolts loose. You were "cautious" of not wanting to do "further damage," but y'all couldn't care less and weren't so cautious about wanting to fleece a customer with an outrageous quote for changing tie rods that didn't need to be replaced in the first place. Even if the tie rods did need to be replaced, a complete set of aftermarket tie rods for the front-end cost $40-$50 and you quoted me around $530 with labor included. That is a rip off! The way your shop does business is a perfect example of why people are leery of auto repair shops. Run from this place!

I love small family owned businesses. They are more personable and less likely to gouge you financially than the dealerships. I needed a 15,000 mile checkup on my car. The dealership wanted $400.00+ but Allings only charged me $111.00. Also gave me a military discount. They have been in business for 30 years. 17 in New Jersey and 13 in Induan Trail. I plan on using them again. Who wants to throw money away. Not me!!!

I’ve had several of my vehicles worked on at Allings Auto. Every single time has been excellent. The work quality is impressive, the prices very reasonable, and the communication is great. I drive over 45 minutes both ways to get my vehicles serviced and repaired here, and it’s money and time well spent.

Glenn and Kelly Alling are wonderful people. A trustworthy family mechanic who is cost-conscious, Glenn will keep you safe by recommending essential repairs and will give you estimates of future items that will need maintained, which is helpful for planning and budgeting.

If you're looking for a reliable and friendly place to get vehicle repairs, I cannot recommend Alling's enough!! I've been a customer of theirs for a few years now, and they never EVER disappoint! The entire staff is super helpful and kind, and Mr. Glenn has never tried to sell me an unnecessary repair. I've been an absolute pain in their butt for the past month with a difficult to pinpoint engine issue, but they never once were annoyed with me when I dropped off my car for what felt like the hundredth time. Overall they're a fantastic business that I would recommend to literally everyone! I can't thank them enough!
