10th St Auto Repair Introduce

Located at 1145 10th St, Portsmouth, OH 45662, USA, and accessible via phone at (740) 355-6936 or +1 740-355-6936, 10th St Auto Repair operates within the "Auto Repair Stations" category. This establishment serves the local community of Portsmouth, Ohio, providing various services related to vehicle maintenance and repair. As with many local businesses, the perception and experience can vary, as reflected in customer feedback.

Environment: A Local Repair Shop Setting

Given its address and typical profile of an "Auto Repair Station" in a community like Portsmouth, 10th St Auto Repair likely operates out of a standard garage or workshop setting. The environment would be functional, designed to accommodate vehicle bays, diagnostic equipment, and tools necessary for mechanical work. While no specific details about the cleanliness or customer waiting areas are provided, the nature of a local shop often implies a straightforward, no-frills approach focused primarily on the mechanics of the repair. The presence of a key technician like Josh suggests a hands-on, working environment.

Services: Addressing Common Automotive Needs

10th St Auto Repair is equipped to handle general automotive repair needs. Based on customer interactions, their services include, but are not limited to:

  • Oil Leak Repair: A specific instance of an oil leak being addressed on a Jeep indicates their capability in diagnosing and resolving fluid leaks. The detailed description of replacing a "new metal casing piece" suggests they are prepared to go beyond temporary fixes for persistent issues.
  • General Diagnostics: The process of identifying the root cause of vehicle problems is a core service. Customers expect them to "diagnose the issues" accurately to provide effective solutions.
  • Parts Replacement: Services involve replacing necessary vehicle components, though the quality and necessity of these replacements are subject to customer perception.
  • Exhaust System Work: While a negative review mentions an exhaust being "stolen," it implies that exhaust system repair or replacement is a service they typically offer.
  • Preventative Maintenance Recommendations: In some cases, as seen with Josh's recommendation for a metal casing piece, they may offer solutions aimed at preventing future issues rather than just repeat repairs.

The core function of 10th St Auto Repair, as an "Auto Repair Station," is to provide the necessary labor and potentially parts for vehicles that require mechanical attention, aiming to get them back on the road.

Features: A Spectrum of Customer Experiences

The features of 10th St Auto Repair are best understood through the contrasting experiences reported by customers, highlighting both strengths and areas of concern:

  • Perceived Honesty and Integrity (Positive Perspective): One customer highly praises Josh for his "honesty and integrity." This is exemplified by his recommendation for a permanent fix to an oil leak that would prevent future recurring revenue for the shop, rather than continually performing temporary fixes. This suggests a commitment to the customer's best interest.
  • Fair Pricing (Positive Perspective): The same positive review notes that services are "always fairly priced," indicating that for some customers, the cost of repairs aligns with their expectations and perceived value.
  • Professionalism (Positive Perspective): The team, particularly Josh, is described as "professional," suggesting a competent approach to their work and customer interactions.
  • Questionable Workmanship and Communication (Negative Perspective): Conversely, a strongly negative review details significant issues. These include being charged for "parts I didn't want," a part being broken and not disclosed, leading to a breakdown, and then being charged again for the shop's "mess up." This points to a lack of transparency, accountability, and potentially poor quality control.
  • Customer Service Concerns (Negative Perspective): The negative review also mentions being "no help to me" after a subsequent breakdown and alleges theft of an exhaust, indicating severe shortcomings in post-repair support and ethical conduct in some instances.

These contrasting features illustrate that customer experience at 10th St Auto Repair can vary significantly, ranging from highly positive accounts of integrity and professionalism to deeply negative experiences involving perceived deceit and poor workmanship.

Promotional Information: Word-of-Mouth and Reputation Management

For a local auto repair shop like 10th St Auto Repair, promotional information often hinges on its reputation within the community, cultivated through customer experiences.

  • Building Trust through Integrity: For customers who have positive experiences, like the one with Josh, the "honesty and integrity of their business" becomes the most powerful promotional tool. Such experiences lead to strong word-of-mouth referrals and repeat business, as customers declare, "we'll continue to trust Josh with our vehicle."
  • Value Proposition: The idea of being "fairly priced" is a key promotional aspect, appealing to cost-conscious consumers looking for good value in vehicle repair.
  • Addressing Common Concerns: By focusing on solutions that prevent recurring issues (like the oil leak fix), they implicitly promote themselves as a long-term solution provider, rather than just a quick fix.
  • Managing Negative Feedback: While not explicitly promotional in a positive sense, the existence of strongly negative reviews means that potential customers researching the business will encounter a mixed bag of opinions. Effective reputation management and consistent positive service delivery are crucial for overcoming such negative perceptions.

In conclusion, 10th St Auto Repair at 1145 10th St, Portsmouth, OH 45662, USA, contactable at (740) 355-6936 or +1 740-355-6936, is an "Auto Repair Station" that presents a dual narrative in the local community. While it has cultivated loyalty from customers who laud its honesty, professionalism, and fair pricing, particularly through the efforts of technician Josh, it also faces significant criticism regarding workmanship, transparency, and customer service in other instances. This means potential customers should consider reviewing multiple sources and potentially conducting initial consultations to assess if their experience will align with the positive accounts of trustworthy and professional service.

10th St Auto Repair Customer Reviews

Worst mechanic work I've ever had in my life. I was charged for a bunch of new parts I didn't want, but paid for. Then they broke another part, and instead of telling me, let it break on me again. Then charged me $800 to fix their mess up. Later it broke down yet again and was no help to me, but stole my exhaust. NEVER USE THEM AGAIN!!!

Always fairly priced and professional. We brought our Jeep in for an oil leak a few times and Josh ended up recommending a new metal casing piece that would stop deteriorating our O rings and prevent future oil leaks. He could've just continually made money off of us every year but chose to help us prevent having to do that. That says something for the honesty and integrity of their business, and we'll continue to trust Josh with our vehicle and anything it needs fixed.

Had some stuck lug nuts taken off here. The gentleman was up front, honest with me, and made quick work of the job. I even paid more than he asked due to me appreciating what he had done for me in such a timely manner. Highly recommended.

My friend has had her car here for over 3 weeks, and it hasn't even been looked at yet. Drove her by the beginning of this week and it's still in the exact same spot she had parked. She has called and been told they haven't got to it yet
